Pediatric Airway Management


Course Objectives: 

1. Develop a detailed understanding of the anatomical differences in pediatric airways.

2. Acquire proficiency in a variety of airway interventions, including basic airway management and advanced airway management approaches .

3. Engage in hands-on training sessions and realistic simulations to apply airway management skills in controlled, true-to-life scenarios

4. Enhance communication skills and teamwork within interdisciplinary teams, emphasizing the importance of clear and efficient communication during pediatric airway emergencies

5. Develop the ability to assess risks associated with different airway interventions and implement strategies to ensure patient safety throughout the process

6. Develop skills to manage complications that may arise during airway interventions, allowing for prompt and appropriate responses to unexpected challenges

7. Develop competence in crisis resource management principles, including situational awareness, decision-making, and leadership, to enhance overall response efficiency during emergencies

8. Develop a culture of continuous learning and improvement among participants, motivating them to stay updated with the latest advancements in pediatric airway management techniques and technologies

MEET THE FACULTY


 

Course Co-Chair

Dr. Abdelmoneem Mohammed Elsheikh PEM Attending Physician Sidra Medicine/Hamad Medical Corporation fellowship program, Qatar, 2021. Dr. Elsheikh is a Pediatric Specialist in Ministry of health Republic of Sudan. He obtained a clinical MD in pediatrics and child health after he completed 4 years in Pediatric Residency program 2019 from Sudanese Medical Specialize Board. He graduated from Omdurman Islamic University, Faculty of Medicine and Health Science, Sudan.

Dr. Syed Haris Huda has worked at Sidra Medicine since January 2019 as an Attending Physician. His particular interest is in dealing with and managing Trauma and Acute medical /surgical emergencies in the Adult and pediatric population. He is presently the Education Lead for the emergency medicine department. Over the years, he has demonstrated success in transformative initiatives that enhance patient care and operational efficiency as the Lead for Minor injuries in Emergency medicine at Sidra Medicine and Associate program director for the PEM fellowship program. He is the chairperson for the Pediatric Emergency Resuscitation Program (PERP) and Instructor in ACLS, PALS, APLS & ATLS life support courses. He is a faculty member at Weil Cornell Medicine in Qatar. During his career, he has led and managed Mass casualties and Bomb blast victims as well. He is particularly interested in Medical education & teaches junior colleagues, peers and Nursing colleagues. To excel in providing for his role as an Educator, he completed his fellowship in Adult & Medical education from the American College of Emergency Physician.
