Pediatric Airway Management
Course Objectives:
• Develop a detailed understanding of the anatomical differences in pediatric airways and their implications for airway management techniques
• Master the skills necessary to perform rapid and accurate assessments of pediatric airways, identifying potential challenges and complications.
• Acquire proficiency in a variety of airway interventions, including basic techniques like bag-mask ventilation and advanced methods such as intubation and supraglottic airway device placement.
• Engage in hands-on training sessions and realistic simulations to apply airway management skills in controlled, true-to-life scenarios.
• Enhance communication skills and teamwork within interdisciplinary teams, emphasizing the importance of clear and efficient communication during pediatric airway emergencies.
• Develop the ability to assess risks associated with different airway interventions and implement strategies to ensure patient safety throughout the process.
• Gain knowledge and skills to manage complications that may arise during airway interventions, allowing for prompt and appropriate responses to unexpected challenges.
• Familiarize participants with airway management equipment and technologies, enabling them to use these resources effectively in emergency situations.
• Develop competence in crisis resource management principles, including situational awareness, decision-making, and leadership, to enhance overall response efficiency during emergencies.

Dr. Syed Haris Huda has worked at Sidra Medicine since January 2019 as an Attending Physician. His particular interest is in dealing with and managing Trauma and Acute medical /surgical emergencies in the Adult and pediatric population. He is presently the Education Lead for the emergency medicine department. Over the years, he has demonstrated success in transformative initiatives that enhance patient care and operational efficiency as the Lead for Minor injuries in Emergency medicine at Sidra Medicine and Associate program director for the PEM fellowship program. He is the chairperson for the Pediatric Emergency Resuscitation Program (PERP) and Instructor in ACLS, PALS, APLS & ATLS life support courses. He is a faculty member at Weil Cornell Medicine in Qatar. During his career, he has led and managed Mass casualties and Bomb blast victims as well. He is particularly interested in Medical education & teaches junior colleagues, peers and Nursing colleagues. To excel in providing for his role as an Educator, he completed his fellowship in Adult & Medical education from the American College of Emergency Physician.

Dr Moataz MBBch, DESA, is an Attending Physician in the Pediatric Division of the Department of Anesthesiology.He has joined Sidra Medicine in April 2018. He was one of the initial core members recruited to form the first pediatric anesthesiology team in the state of Qatar at Hamad Medical Corporation.Dr Moataz completed his residency training in Anesthesiology at the American University of Beirut followed by three fellowships, the first of which is in Cardiac Anesthesiology at the same institution, a Critical care fellowship at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto (UofT) one of the busiest trauma centers in Canada and a Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa (OttawaU).Dr Moataz has an extensive expertise of 12 years managing the perioperative care of children, infants and neonates ranging from the healthiest to the sickest with most complex pathologies.Dr. Moataz's particular interests are pediatric airway management and education. He is a member of the Qatar Difficult Airway Management Society and Innovation (QDAM), and is the lead-Instructor of the Pediatric Airway section of the Advanced Airway Management course since 2017. He is also a core-faculty member of anesthesiology residency program as well as the pediatric anesthesiology fellowship program. He is currently the equipment committee director at the division of Pediatric Anesthesiology in Sidra.Dr Moataz has co-authored several textbook chapters regarding the management of the normal and the difficult airways in infants and children.

I currently serve as a Pediatric Otolaryngologist, Head-Neck Surgeon at Sidra Medicine and Research Center, Doha, Qatar after completing a Fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology, Head-Neck Surgery, at Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford University, USA.
During my career thus far I have been fortunate to receive several awards. While at Stanford University, I was awarded the Fellow of the Year within the Department of Otolaryngology, Head-Neck Surgery and nominated for the 2023 Kelley M. Skeff GME Professionalism Award. During my residency at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, I was awarded the esteemed Mandela Rhodes Scholarship from over 7,500 applicants and the TSESI Dubai traveling scholarship, among others.
I serve as a coordinator with the International Federation of Otorhinolaryngological Societies (IFOS) and within the education committee of the Young Otolaryngologists of IFOS (YO-IFOS). I have also served as the Africa regional representative under the umbrella of the Global Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Initiative (Global OHNS).
I am a highly motivated clinician with a keen interest in clinical and global health research. I have published multiple original research articles within the highest impact journals in our field. Having had the privilege to have trained and practiced medicine in both low and high-resource settings, I have gained holistic perspectives in the arena of global health, education and clinical care.
My ultimate vision is to continually perform clinical medicine at the highest level and promote global otolaryngology research that facilitates an equitable and world-class clinical practice.
Course Facilitator
Dr Sinha joined Sidra Medicine in April 2018 as Attending Physician in Pediatric Division of Department of Anesthesia. She is the Program Director for Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship at Sidra and Assistant Professor in Clinical Anesthesiology, Weill Cornell Medicine, Qatar.
Dr Sinha completed her clinical fellowships in Pediatric Anesthesia and Pediatric Critical Care from Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto in 2012. Under the New Children Hospital Project of Sickkids International, she joined as consultant in Pediatric Anesthesia at Hamad Medical Corporation where she led many projects establishing key policies and procedure for safe delivery of pediatric anesthesia, pediatric sedation, and pain management. With more than 12 years of exclusive Pediatric Anesthesia practice, she packs extensive experience of managing babies and children with various comorbidities including difficult airway under her belt.
Dr Sinha has special interests in teaching and training. She is instructor in many Life support courses at HITC (APLS, ATLS, PFCCS) and Course Director for Communication Skills in Healthcare and Teach the Teacher Course at Medical Education, HMC.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The 9th Qatar - Pediatric Emergency Medicine (QPEM) International Virtual Conference 2025 is open to all healthcare professionals with an interest in or practice involving providing emergency and urgent care to children. The conference is CME accredited for nurses, doctors, allied health, paramedics, nurse practitioners and pharmacists, and all trainees welcome.
