Prof. Khalid Al Ansari
Chair - Emergency Department at Sidra Medical and Research Center
Dr. Khalid Al Ansari is the inaugural Chairman of the Sidra Medicine Emergency Department that sees more than 80,000 children under the age of 18 years annually, including those seen as a level 1 Trauma Center: More than 500 Tier 1 and 2 patients annually. Dr. Al Ansari is the founder of National Poison Center and the founder of the Child Advocacy Program in Qatar. He is also the Chairman of the Sidra wide Hospital Resuscitation Program.
Dr. Al Ansari's extensive expertise in Emergency Medicine, Acute Medical Care has helped him transform the delivery of Pediatric Emergency services to patients in Qatar. He is a qualified Pediatrician and Pediatric Emergency physician with over 17 years of experience in the field and holds Board exams in the US and Canada.
He is a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Professor of Clinical Emergency at Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in Qatar University. His research interest is in emergency respiratory diseases, gastroenteritis, pediatric sedation and child abuse in Qatar.
He is the Chairman of IRB Qatar Biomedical Bank, Chairman of MOPH National Child Protection Committee and member of National Disaster Committee.

Dr. Sami Sulaiman Al Farsi
Dr. Al Farsi joined the Royal Hospital in 1999 as a pediatric resident and then followed up with a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship in the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada from 2003 until 2006. He then successfully completed further training in Pediatric Intesive Care at the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario, London Ontario Canada from 2006-2007. Since his return to Oman in 2007, he has worked as Pediatric Emergentologist, a Pediatric Intensivist and was the head of Pediatric Emergency unit until 2012. In 2010 Dr. Al Farsi was appointed as Deputy Director of the Child Health Department, Royal Hospital and was promoted to Director of the Child Health Department in September 2015. He is actively involved in multiple committees include as chairperson of the CPR committee at the Royal Hospital and is a member of other committees at the Royal, and with the Ministry of Health and Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB).

Dr. Barbara Blackie
MD, FRCPC, MEd
Dr. Barbara Blackie is the Education Lead and a Senior Attending Physician in Emergency Medicine, providing faculty development, education/training for staff and leads the Simulation Program for the department. She is a Master Trainer for the TeamSTEPPS program at Sidra, teaches Pediatric Procedural Sedation, POCUS, PALS, and ATLS. Other activities include co-chair for the Scientific Committee for QPEM, the annual Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference, and she is Vice Chair for the Procedural Sedation Committee at Sidra. She is also an external CME/CPD Surveyor for QCHP and sits on the CME/CPD Advisory Committee at Weill Cornell Medical College, where she also has a faculty appointment. Prior to the move to Doha, she worked in Canada at a tertiary care, level one trauma center for pediatrics. In addition, she held the role of Associate Chief (Education) for the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and was the Program Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine residency/fellowship program.

Dr. Nasser A. A. Haidar is a Sr. Consultant and Education Lead at PECs and HMC, Qatar. He is also Associate Prof. Of Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, and formerly CEO of the University of Science and Technology Hospital, UST, Sanaa.
He has chaired several committees, published several articles, and Associate Editor. He has been honored a national price for the best medical research and ideal resident during postgraduate studies. He is a director, Instructor, and shared in constructing several medical courses, participated in several international medical conferences.
Dr. Nasser is a Co-chair of Scientific Committee of QPEM and ISPCAN Qatar.
Dr. Colin V E Powell

Dr. Powell qualified in 1984 from the Victoria University of Manchester UK and trained in General Pediatrics’, Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine in Manchester and Sheffield, England, UK and Melbourne, Australia. He completed a respiratory fellowship and the RoyalShow More Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and commenced his first Consultant’s post in Melbourne in 1998 as a Staff Pediatrician in the Emergency Department, General Pediatrician and Senior Lecturer with Melbourne University. He returned to the UK and joined the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff Wales UK in 2002 and became Senior Lecturer, Reader (Associate Professor) and then Honorary Professor of Child Health with Cardiff University.

Dr. Alamri graduated from the Arabian Gulf University – Bahrain in 1995 after which he joined Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in the State of Qatar. He completed a one-year internship at Hamad General Hospital in 1997 and in the same year, he joined the Pediatrics Residency training program. He became a Senior Resident in General Pediatrics in 2004. After completing the residency, he did three-year fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency in HMC. Dr. Alamri then worked as a Specialist in Pediatric Emergency and in 2009 became an Acting Consultant for a year. In 2010, he advanced to being a Consultant and held that position for five years. From 2015, Dr. Alamri has been a Senior Consultant in Pediatric Emergency.
Dr. Alamri is currently the A/Chairman of Pediatrics Department in Hamad General Hospital and Director of Pediatric Emergency Centers (PEC) at Hamad Medical Corporation. He takes full responsibility of the clinical and administrative aspects of all PECs in the absence of the Director of PECs. He is the Chief Physician who manages and oversees the consultants, specialists and clinical fellows, and duty roster and mentorship for residents as well as the interns from Pediatrics, Family Medicine and Emergency and also students from Weill Cornell and other prestigious universities.
Dr. Alamri was awarded by HMC the Star Practice Award Stars of Excellence in October 2011, Guiding Stars of Excellence in October 2011, Stars of Excellence in Health Performance Category in October 2012, Stars of Excellence Research Category in November 2013 and 2017.
Dr. Sudhakar Adusumilli
Dr Sudhakar Rao Adusumilli is Division Chief of Emergency Medicine and Senior Attending Physician at Sidra Medicine. Prior to joining Sidra Medicine, Dr Adusumilli was employed as Consultant Paediatrician and Clinical Director at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust in UK. There he was Clinical Director for nearly 4 years, leading Pediatrics, Neonatology and Maternity services at 3 acute hospital sites. Prior to that he served as Head of Service for Neonates and as Named Doctor for Child protection. In the last 10 years, he led and improved quality and safety across a number of specialities. As Clinical Director, he helped developing robust governance processes for Women and Children’s services to improve quality and safety of services, which were appreciated by the Trust’s Executive Team. Dr Adusumilli received leadership training from NHS Leadership academy and from University of Lincoln which helped in bringing teams together to improve quality and safety.
Dr Adusumilli graduated in medicine in India. Following that he had postgraduate Pediatric training in India and subsequently in United Kingdom and obtained CCT in Pediatrics. His qualifications are MBBS, DCH, MRCP (UK), FRCPCH and P.G.Diploma in Child Health (University of Leeds). Dr Adusumilli has over 30 years of working with children and families and has a wealth of experience. Dr Adusumilli has been teaching EPALS (European Paediatric Advanced Life Support) for the past 10 years and has experience of teaching both undergraduate students and postgraduate trainees in Pediatrics.
Dr. Lisa Goldsworthy
Dr. Lisa Goldsworthy is currently working as a Senior Consultant Emergency Pediatrician Lead Doctor for Child Protection for UHB. She is part of a team of 8.6 wte consultants as 10pa (40 hours a week) in provision of Pediatric Emergency Care. They work alongside a nursing team, as well as a group of emergency nurse practitioners and junior medical staff. The department sees approximately 40,000 per year of babies and children under 16 years, a mixture of medically unwell, trauma presentations, and injured patients.
Dr. Graeme Francis Hadley
Dr. Graeme Hadley is an Attending Physician from the UK. Prior to joining Sidra, Dr. Hadley worked as a Pediatric Emergency Consultant and Department Clinical Lead in a busy South London Hospital. His area of interest is Pediatric Trauma and during his Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) training in the UK, has worked in 2 of London’s major trauma centers.
Dr. Hadley is originally from South Africa where he attended the University of Cape Town Medical School and following this was posted to rural South Africa where he worked in Pediatrics obtaining his Diploma in Child Health. He has also worked as a General Surgeon in South Africa before moving to the UK in 2003 and completing his Postgraduate Pediatric and PEM training in London. Prior to taking up his Consultant post he worked on a Pediatric Intensive Care retrieval team based out of central London where he gained experience in pediatric retrieval medicine. As an Attending Physician at Sidra Medicine, he is actively involved in the ED simulation program as a facilitator and debriefer, was a key facilitator for the activation of the trauma program at Sidra, and is leading the minor injuries program.
Dr. Rafah Fayez Mahmoud Al Sayyed
Dr. Rafah Sayyed is a Pediatric Senior Consultant in Pediatric Emergency Center Al Sadd at Hamad General Hospital in Doha, Qatar. She joined Hamad Medical Corporation in 2005. She holds Jordanian Board of Pediatrics since 2004. Prior to joining HMC, she worked at the University of Jordan and Al Basheer Hospital in Amman, Jordan. She is interested in Research and Critical Care Management having published articles and currently involved in ongoing research in PEC. Dr. Rafah has been a speaker in QPEM since year 1 sharing her knowledge and expertise as a medical professional. She is currently a faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College and Qatar University, giving education and bedside training to medical students. She is also an Advanced Life Support instructor of the Advanced Life Support Group (UK). She is also an instructor in Pediatric Safe Procedural Sedation course and Emergency Medicine Pediatric Airway course.
Dr. Kevin Enright
Dr Enright is an Irish Emergency Physician, dual-trained in both adult and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He is also a Flight Physician with HEMS in the UK. Kevin is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). He completed his Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW) in Sydney, Australia in 2010. His residency training in Emergency Medicine was undertaken in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at St George’s University Hospital London prior to taking up his post as Lead for Major Trauma at Sidra Emergency in 2019. He has been an examiner for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (UK) and the European Board of Emergency Medicine (EBEEM) in Europe.
Dr. Nadeem Jilani
Dr. Nadeem Jilani is a Senior Attending Physician in Sidra Emergency department and also Medical Director for Sidra Child Advocacy Program (S-CAP). He qualified and received his initial Pediatric training in India and then worked in reputed hospital in Saudi Arabia and UK. His qualifications are MBBS, MD (Pediatrics), MRCPCH, CCT (Pediatrics) and FRCPCH. He has worked as Pediatric Consultant employed by Pennine Acute Hospitals, NHS Trust before moving to Qatar. Safeguarding Children has been his area of special interest and he has served as Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children for North Manchester General Hospital.
Dr. Jilani also has a passion for Medical education, teaching & training. He has been a Tutor for Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health for his previous organization and is currently also an examiner for MRCPCH Clinical examination. He is also an honorary faculty member at University of Manchester Medical School and an instructor for resuscitation courses like APLS and NLS. He has a number of scientific publications to his credit and he has also participated in various international conferences as a speaker. As Co-chair of scientific committee of first ever international child protection congress in Qatar, he was instrumental in formulating the scientific program and organization of ISPCAN Qatar 2020.
He supports Manchester United and reads & writes Urdu poetry in his free time.
Dr. Khalid Alyafei
Dr. Khalid Alyafei holds now a position as division chief medical informatics and senior attending pediatrics emergency medicine at Sidra medicine.
Dr. Alyafei has a lengthy experience in clinical operation, leadership, education and medical informatics. He held a position as program director of PEM fellowship at HMC on 2008. He assists in residents training & faculty development in providing didactic lectures and workshops in communication and medical professionalism.
As Dr. Alyafei is actively involved in many research studies, he’s also a strong advocate in public education with special interest in injury prevention, home safety, and child abuse prevention.
Dr. Alyafei has engaged in medical informatics since 2009 where he participated as SME and active member in steering committee. he became deputy CMIO on 2013 then a division CMIO on Nov 2017.
Dr. Alyafei received his MD from Arabian Gulf University- medical college, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain in 1997.
He completed his post-doctoral training in pediatrics and then pediatric emergency medicine at the Children Hospital of Western Ontario, Canada on 2007.
Dr. Alyafei is a board-certified pediatrician and also certified in pediatric emergency medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. he has also a master degree in Leadership from Georgetown university.

Dr. Robert Hoffman
Dr. Hoffman is a pediatric emergency physician and medical toxicologist at the Qatar Poison Center at Sidra Medicine. He completed residency and fellowship training in pediatrics, medical toxicology, pediatric emergency medicine, and clinical research methods.
Dr. Hoffman has focused on developing these specialties in the GCC; establishing the medical toxicology consultation service in the UAE, the first ACGMEi-accredited Emergency Medicine residency training program in Abu Dhabi, and in Qatar establishing the Qatar Poison Center as well as a fellowship training program in medical toxicology at Sidra Medicine. Dr. Hoffman edits the 5 Minute Pediatric Emergency Medicine Consult- the most widely sold and reference pediatric EM bedside reference textbook, and the biggest-selling pediatric EM board review textbook- PEM Question Book.

Dr. Fatihi Toaimah

Dr. Fatihi Toaimah is a Consultant in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCM-Q). His clinical work focuses on pediatric emergency care which ranges from common clinical problems to life-threatening conditions. He has been interested in clinical research with a focus on medical emergencies, bronchiolitis, gastroenteritis, and he is currently an active member of the Academic Committee at Pediatric Emergency Center Alsadd. He published several papers in peer reviewed medical journals. Dr. Fatihi is an experienced teacher and currently a speaker for research methodology training program which targets healthcare professionals at HMC. His internship and residency training program have been completed at Zagazig University Children’s Hospital, Egypt and he then earned his doctorate in pediatrics (PhD) in 2000. He joined the staff of HMC in 2003 and a faculty member of WCM-Q in 2012.

Dr. Magda Barkat
Dr. Magda Badawi Magoub Barkat is a Pediatric Senior Consultant who works in Pediatric Emergency Center Al Sadd under the Pediatrics Department of Hamad General Hospital and part of the Hamad Medical Corporation. She obtained MBBS degree from the University of Khartoum in Sudan, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a licensed physician in Qatar as well as in Ohio, USA.
Dr. Magda is a respected member of Pediatric Emergency since she joined HMC in 2012 and one of the team leaders in charge of consultants and specialists. She is involved in teaching Pediatric and Emergency residents while they are rotating in PEC Al Sadd, and medical students from both Weill Cornell and Qatar University. She is an instructor in Pediatric Safe Procedural Sedation course.
Dr. Magda previously worked in various hospitals in Sudan, Saudi Arabia and USA prior to joining HMC.
She is active in Research and has already published in Pediatric Neurology.

Dr. AbouGalala is a consultant Emergency and Disaster Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation since 1998. He is the Executive Director for Major Incident Planning at Hamad Medical Corporation and Consultant in Emergency Preparedness and Response department at Ministry of Public Health, State of Qatar.
He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine from Jordan Medical Council in 2007, and he is holding Master Degree in Disaster Medicine, from Italy and Belgium and Master in Medical Education from Maastricht University (Netherland).
He is heavily involved in National Emergency and Disaster Management holding many posts such as Coordinator of the National Health Emergency Management Committee and the National Pandemic Preparedness Committee, Ministry of Public Health, State of Qatar. He led the team who developed the National Health Emergency Management Framework at the MOPH.
He also serves as Medical Director, Emergency Medical Service Program, College of North Atlantic and Qatar and Chair of the Advisory Committee, Emergency Health Science, College of North Atlantic Qatar.
He was leading the development of the National Health Emergency Management framework in the Ministry of Public Health.
Locally he is a Member in Many National Emergency Management Committees in the state of Qatar such Hamad International Airport Emergency and Safety Committee. Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar Petroleum. Member of the National Shelter Committee, Ministry of Interior - Qatar. Coordinator and Member of the Strategic Stockpile Committee, Ministry of Public Health, and Member of Emergency Preparedness Committee MOPH which is the highest committee for Health Emergency Preparedness.
And recently he was selected as Member of the national World Cup 2022 Healthcare and Doping Control Committee. Founder Member of establishing Hamad International Training Centre.
Dr. Amrita Sarpal
Dr. Amrita Sarpal is a Canadian pediatric intensive care physician with additional training in pediatric palliative care. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and professional coach. She completed fellowships in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada and at the Mater Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, Australia and Pediatric Palliative Care fellowship at the Royal Children’s Hospital Brisbane.
Dr. Sarpal joined us from Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario in 2019 where she was a consultant in Pediatric Critical Care, the fellowship program director, and pediatric organ donation physician specialist. Her interests include postgraduate medical education, difficult communication and providing high quality end of life care amongst others. Dr. Sarpal is currently leading number of quality initiatives and is the fellowship program director for Pediatric Critical Care at Sidra Medicine.
As a professional coach, she believes addressing burnout and building resilience within healthcare can be achieved. Through active listening, empathic communication, understanding your values and life purpose whilst obtaining the necessary support, mentorship and sponsorship you too can be empowered to carve a new path.
Dr. Muhalab Tajeldin
Dr Tajeldin is a consultant in Emergency Medicine. He obtained his MBBS from University of Gezira, Sudan. He completed his Fellowship in Emergency Medicine (FRCEM) at the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and was awarded a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in the UK. He worked in different hospitals in England and Wales.
Dr Tajeldin is an instructor for the advanced resuscitation courses including ALS, APLS and ATLS. Before joining Sidra in November 2018, he worked as a consultant in Emergency Medicine in Morriston Hospital, Swansea.
Dr Tajeldin’s special interest is in quality improvement in health care. He led successful quality improvement projects in the UK and Sidra ED. He is currently the patient education lead in the Sidra emergency department. Using technology and principles of quality improvement, he is leading the transformation of education material delivery to emergency department patients and families.

She earned her Master of Pharmacy from University of Bradford, UK after which she completed her Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical and Health Services Pharmacy at University of Manchester. Prior to joining Sidra, Shazia was the lead pharmacist for Medicines Information and Professional Secretary for Pediatric Medicines Management Committee at Central Manchester Foundation Trust after which she worked at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh. Shazia has experience in both pediatric and adult acute medicine, and internal medicine.

Andrew M Jones is a Clinical Nurse Lead based at Sidra Medicine (emergency department). He has 26 years’ experience in the speciality of emergency intervention (Paediatric, resilience management and Adult).
Before starting at Sidra Medicine, Andrew worked in the UK as a clininical nurse, departmental lead, resilience officer (trust lead during the H1N1 swine flu outbreak). The foremost posts being an exclusive paediatric settings and subsequently Clinical nurse manager (mixed children’s and adult emergency department).
After a successful career based in Pediatric Emergency medical intervention, Andrew now works as a Clinical Nurse Lead at Qatar’s flagship women and Children’s hospital - Sidra Medicine. He is currently involved in the implementation and development of numerous projects (including children's behavioural health), aimed at improving the healthcare response at Sidra Medicine across a wide scope.
Mr. Frankie Famillaran
Frankie Nolasco Famillaran is a Nurse Educator in Pediatric Emergency Department at Sidra Medicine. He received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree, Masters in Nursing and Diploma in Critical Care.
Prior to joining Sidra, Frankie was Nurse Educator specialized in Emergency & Critical Care in King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh. He was a faculty of Diploma in Critical Care, Advanced Diploma in Cardiac Care, Diploma in Oncology, Diploma in Emergency and Advanced Stroke Care of National Neuro Science Institute at KFMC and SCFHS.

Nurse Mark Santos is the Clinical Nurse/Midwife Specialist of Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital. He is currently the Secretary of the Advanced Nursing and Midwifery Practice Network of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). He joined HMC in 2007 as an Emergency Nurse. In the same year, He was promoted to the position of Trauma Nurse/Database Analyst in the Trauma Surgery Department, which he held for six years. He was then promoted as Stroke Patient Pathway Coordinator in the Neuroscience Institute, Academic Health System, HMC, a position he held for five years.
Nurse Santos holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree major in Industrial Education Management from the Technological University of the Philippines (2017), a Master of Arts in Nursing major in Nursing Administration (2011) from the Philippine Women’s University, a Professional Master’s in Nursing major in Medical Surgical (2003), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2001) from Western Mindanao State University. He is a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Medical Surgical), licensed by Qatar Council for Healthcare Professionals (QCHP), Ministry of Public Health, Qatar (2019). Mr. Anan Khaled Ali Al Badawi
Anan Albadawi is an ambulance paramedic instructor working for the Hamad Medical Corporation – Ambulance Service – Education Department. He hold a Bachelor degree in Nursing science and Diploma in Clinical Simulation from the Lebanese American University. Anan Joined HMCAS in 2012 as an Ambulance paramedic and joined the education department in 2015 as an Instructor.
His main rules are teaching the new paramedics, conducting CPD courses and refresher courses for the paramedic staff. He is part of the group updating the AS guidelines as well creating multi CPD activities. His main area of interest are pediatric emergencies (5 years as of now), simulation-based education, and clinical informatics. Recently played a significant rule within the AS during COVID 19 pandemic as a supervisor in Um Gran isolation facilities, one of the biggest isolation facilities in the state of Qatar.
Mr. Ihab Safi
Ihab Safi is a Clinical Nurse Leader at Sidra Medicine (pediatric Emergency Department). Ihab has over 12 years of experience in critical care (adult and pediatric). While working in Canada Safi amassed a wealth of experience in trauma and emergency response through his work in the busiest Emergency Department. Ihab has hands-on experience with mass causality and natural disaster response in Canada and the Middle East. Safi is a certified member of the College of Nurses of Ontario. He is currently works on projects of disaster and emergency response drills at Sidra Medicine and is part of the Emergency Department COVID-19 operational team. He holds a Masters of Disaster and Emergency Management from Royal Roads University. Ihab's experience and research has culminated in work regarding children’s rights in disaster situations as well as the role of nurses in disaster and emergency scenarios.
