Dr. Khalid Al Ansari MD, FRCP-C, FAAP (PEM) is the inaugural Chairman of the Sidra Medicine Emergency Department that sees more than 80,000 children under the age of 18 years annually, including those seen as a level 1 Trauma Center: More than 500 Tier 1 and 2 patients annually. Dr. Al Ansari is the founder of National Poison Center and the founder of the Child Advocacy Program in Qatar. He is also the Chairman of the Sidra wide Hospital Resuscitation Program. Dr. Al Ansari's extensive expertise in Emergency Medicine, Acute Medical Care has helped him transform the delivery of Pediatric Emergency services to patients in Qatar. He is a qualified Pediatrician and Pediatric Emergency physician with over 17 years of experience in the field and holds Board exams in the US and Canada. He is a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at Weil Cornell Medical College-Qatar and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Qatar University. His research interest are in emergency respiratory diseases, gastroenteritis, pediatric sedation and child abuse in Qatar. He is the Chairman of IRB Qatar Biomedical Bank, Chairman of MOPH National Child Protection Committee and member of National Disaster Committee.

Dr. Jabeen Fayyaz completed her medical training at Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, Pakistan. She was awarded her Diploma , MCPS and FCPS Pediatrics from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. Later Completed the Masters in HPE from Aga khan University and currently the PHD candidate in simulation in HPE at MGH Harvard. Dr. Fayyaz was actively involved in the development of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine program In Pakistan and Oman throughout her career. She developed a virtual blended learning course for the management of acute paediatric emergencies, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia in 2010 run across Aga Khan development network. In Toronto, Canada, Dr. Fayyaz completed her Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Fellowship and Simulation Fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children and facilitates several simulation-based courses including APLS, procedural sedation, acute care resuscitation training for residents , PEM fellows. She has been Resuscitation lead for Competency based medical education program for PEM faculty since 2018 , first of its kind in Canada. She has been Resuscitation Lead in the department and Led various initiative including implementing Acute event debriefing , incorporating Virtual simulation and Virtual gaming simulation into the Residents , fellows and faculty Simulation based educational activities. She has mage partners with various international sim leaders including , INSPIRE , IPSS , SSH and IMPACTS and leading various virtual simulation-based courses with Macmaster , University of Yale , USA and Indus hospital , health network ,Karachi Pakistan and TelAviv university Israel are among few to name . Her interests include resuscitation, Virtual simulation , acute event debriefing and patient safety and quality improvement practices utilizing simulation. She belief and passionate about incorporating EDI in simulation . She recently won the Teaching award for Subspeciality teaching from University of Toronto and 2 education grants to incorporate cultural sensitivity and Virtual simulations.

Dr. Kazzi trained in Emergency Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta (2000-03) where he served as a chief resident before completing a subspecialty fellowship in Medical Toxicology at Emory University, Georgia Poison Center and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. He is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology. Dr. Kazzi joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) between 2005 and 2008 where he served as a Medical Toxicologist for the Regional Poison Control Center in Birmingham and the Alabama Poison Center. Currently, he is a professor at the department of Emergency Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia as well as the director of the International Toxicology Fellowship Program at Emory University. He is also the assistant medical director of the Georgia Poison Center, associate medical director of the Southern Regional Disaster Response System and a guest researcher at the National Center for Environmental Health at the CDC where he participates in emergency preparedness and response activities in radiation. As an emergency physician and toxicologist, Dr. Kazzi specializes in the recognition, triage, and management of poisonings and holds a deep interest in the areas of Radiation and International Toxicology. He founded and chaired the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology Radiation Interest Group since 2009. He is currently serving as a secretary treasurer of the American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT) and is a board member of the Medical Toxicology Foundation. He chairs the ACMT International Committees. Dr. Kazzi has extensively lectured at National and International conferences and developed several curricula and training programs in emergency preparedness and response. He is an active and founding board member of the Middle East North Africa Toxicology Association and currently serves as its Immediate Past-President. Lastly, Dr. Kazzi is a member of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements and serves on the executive committee of the Radiation Injury Treatment Network.

Prof. Patrick Van de Voorde is clinical head in Emergency Medicine at Ghent University Hospital. He is appointed associate professor in emergency medicine at Ghent University. Being also trained as board-certified paediatrician and intensivist, he previously functioned as paediatric intensivist in the same Ghent University Hospital. Since 2013 he is medical director of the Emergency Dispatch Centre 112 for Eastern- and Western-Flanders (Federal Department of Health). He is vice-chair of the Belgian Society of Emergency Medicine and board member of the paediatric section of the European Society of Emergency medicine,as well as the European representative to the general assembly of IFEM. Within IFEM, he is member of both the trauma and the paediatric special interest groups. He is further honoured as fellow of that ERC and is still member of the science & educational committee on BLS. Prof. Van de Voorde has many publications in the field of (paediatric) emergency medicine and cardiac arrest and is first author of the 2021 ERC guidelines on paediatric resuscitation. He has been invited speaker and scientific committee member to many international congresses in the past 15 years.

Prof. Manoj Mittal is a pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) physician. He completed his pediatric residency and a chief resident year at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. He did fellowship training in PEM at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia before joining the faculty there. Dr. Mittal has wide ranging academic interests in the PEM field, including in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, and in the intersection of health care and law. He is currently the site-PI for a multi-center BRUE QI and research collaborative. Before that, he was involved in various multi-center studies related to Apparent Life Threatening Event, appendicitis, and traumatic brain injury. He has numerous peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters to his credit. He is a peer reviewer for multiple pediatric and emergency medicine journals.

Jessica Singh, MD practiced as an emergency medicine physician and completed the inaugural Physician Wellness fellowship in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. After completing fellowship, Dr. Singh founded Sukhayu Wellness, a wellness practice formed with the mission of helping individuals, communities and organizations nurture health, humanity, and well-being. Dr. Singh’s work as a physician wellness consultant focuses on a systems-level process improvement approach to wellness. She works with organizations to assess healthcare provider burnout in the context of quality and safety and cost, with the goal of empowering initiatives for systems change. In addition to being a holistic, National Board Certified Health & Wellness coach, she holds certifications in yoga teacher training by the Sivananda yoga retreat, mind-body medicine by the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, Interactive Guided Imagery by the Academy of Guided Imagery, and Ayurvedic wellness counseling by Kerala Ayurveda Academy.

Dr. Theresa Walls is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and an attending physician in the emergency department (ED) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She serves as the Medical Director of CHOP’s EMS Institute and as Liaison to EMS and Community EDs. She represents CHOP on the Commissioner’s Medical Advisory Board in Philadelphia and the Medical Advisory Council in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. She is a member of Pennsylvania’s EMS for Children Advisory Board and Vice President of the Pennsylvania College of Emergency Physicians. Nationally, she sits on the Pediatrics Committee of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and represents ACEP on the Prehospital Pediatric Readiness Steering Committee. She chairs the Pediatric Readiness Subcommittee of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Section on Emergency Medicine. When not busy with work, she enjoys spending time at the beach with her family.

Camilo E. Gutierrez is an internationally recognized Pediatric Emergency Physician with experience as a clinician, educator, and expert in international pediatric emergency care. Currently, Director of Global Health Programs for the Division of Emergency Medicine at Children’s National Hospital, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine, in Washington DC. Dr. Gutierrez is a key opinion leader at the advisory level in the development of acute care systems at the local, country, and regional level globally, with emphasis in development of pediatric acute and emergency care systems. He is Immediate past-Chair for the ACEP International EM Section and of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Special Interest Group of the International Federation of Emergency Medicine, and member of the Specialty Implementation and Education Committees. He is Founding and Board Member of the first Latin American Pediatric EM Society (SLEPE). Dr. Gutierrez is a recognized speaker both locally and in over a dozen countries where he has presented over 100 lectures and has authored over 40 publications. His interests expand on international and global healthcare arenas, development of pediatric acute care systems, pediatric trauma and critical care in the ED, ultrasound, shock, difficult airway management and procedural sedation in children.

She is a Professor of Social Pediatrics. She was the founder and co-director of the Child Protection Center in Gazi University, the first multidisciplinary hospital-based team in Turkey. She has served as the president of Turkish Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (TSPCAN) during 2005-2010 and served in the Board of TSPCAN until 2022. She was councilor of the International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN) between 2014-2020 and served as the Chair of the Training and Education core committee between 2016-2020. She has participated in several projects in Turkey about child health, child abuse and neglect and family training programs. She worked as a consultant in various parenting programs in Turkey and also organized family training courses within her university. Prof. Oriot earned his degree BS in Neurosciences, MD, Board certification in Pediatrics and Anesthesiology, PhD in Bioethics in France and Felloowship in McGill University in Canada. He has more than 20 years of practice in Pediatric Intensive Care and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Prof. Oriot’s first simulation and debriefing experience was in 1989. Head of a nationwide simulation-based education program through a university course on pediatric emergency procedures. Responsible for the simulation-based education at the ABS Lab – simulation center in Poitiers, France. He developed research projects in simulation about performance and stress, multi-professional teamwork and performance, disclosure of bad news, mastery trainings on specific pediatric and adult emergency procedures. Particular interests in evaluation of procedures and development of assessment scales, and debriefing modalities of multi-professional teams. Prof. Oriot written numerous articles on simulation-based education and is coauthor of a book on debriefing (Pocket Book for Simulation Debriefing in Healthcare, Springer 2017) translated into French (La simulation en santé : le debriefing clés en mains, Elsevier 2019), Korean (2020) and Spanish (2021).

Dr. Al Farsi (Oman) joined the Royal Hospital in 1999 as a pediatric resident and then followed up with a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship in the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada from 2003 until 2006. He then successfully completed further training in Pediatric Intensive Care at the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario, London Ontario Canada from 2006-2007. Since his return to Oman in 2007, he has worked as Pediatric Emergentologist, a Pediatric Intensivist and was the head of Pediatric Emergency unit until 2012. In 2010 Dr. Al Farsi was appointed as Deputy Director of the Child Health Department, Royal Hospital and was promoted to Director of the Child Health Department in September 2015. He is actively involved in multiple committees include as chairperson of the CPR committee at the Royal Hospital and is a member of other committees at the Royal, and with the Ministry of Health and Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB).

Dr. Khalid Alyafei holds the position as Division Chief, Medical Informatics and is a senior attending physician in the pediatric emergency department at Sidra Medicine. Dr. Alyafei has engaged in medical informatics since 2009 where he participated as SME and was an active member on the steering committee pre opening at Sidra Medicine. He became deputy CMIO in 2013 then Division CMIO in Nov 2017. In addition to his role in CMIO, and his clinical duties, Dr Alyafei is also the Medical Director for Life Support Services for Sidra Medicine, which is an AHA accredited institution. Dr. Alyafei has a lengthy experience in clinical operations, leadership, education and medical informatics. He held the position as program director for the PEM fellowship at HMC from 2008-2014. He assists in resident training & faculty development by providing didactic lectures and workshops in communication and medical professionalism. Dr. Alyafei is actively involved in many research studies, and is a strong advocate in public education with special interest in injury prevention, home safety, and child abuse prevention. Dr. Alyafei received his MD from Arabian Gulf University- medical college, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain in 1997. He completed his post-doctoral training in pediatrics and then completed a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at the Children Hospital of Western Ontario, London Ontario Canada in 2007. Dr. Alyafei is a board-certified pediatrician and also board certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and has a Master Degree in Leadership from Georgetown University. Professor Powell joined Sidra Medicine in 2018 as the Research Lead for the ED. He brings with him more than 170 publications over his career and more than 12 million UK pounds in grants and research funding. He is currently leading/co leading several research projects including those on DKA, intranasal ketamine for sedation, the STAR project on pediatric traumatic presentations in Qatar. Professor Powell qualified in 1984 from the Victoria University of Manchester UK and trained in General Pediatrics’, Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine in Manchester and Sheffield, England, UK and Melbourne, Australia. He completed a respiratory fellowship and the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and commenced his first Consultant’s post in Melbourne in 1998 as a Staff Pediatrician in the Emergency Department, General Pediatrician and Senior Lecturer with Melbourne University. He returned to the UK and joined the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff Wales UK in 2002 and became Senior Lecturer, Reader (Associate Professor) and then Honorary Professor of Child Health with Cardiff University.

Dr. Barbara Blackie MD, FRCPC, MEd is the Education Lead and a Senior Attending Physician in Emergency Medicine, providing faculty development, education/training for staff and leads the Simulation Program for the department. She is a Master Trainer for the TeamSTEPPS program at Sidra, teaches Pediatric Procedural Sedation, POCUS, PALS, and ATLS. Other activities include co-chair for the Scientific Committee for QPEM, the annual Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference, and she is Vice Chair for the Procedural Sedation Committee at Sidra. She is also an external CME/CPD Surveyor for Department of Health Professionals (DHP) at the Ministry of Public Health and sits on the CME/CPD Advisory Committee at Weill Cornell Medical College, where she also has a faculty appointment. Prior to the move to Doha, she worked in Canada at a tertiary care, level one trauma center for pediatrics. In addition, she held the role of Associate Chief (Education) for the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and was the Program Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine residency/fellowship program.

Dr Ibtihal Abdelgadir is a Pediatric Emergency Attending Physician who has worked as a Pediatric Emergency Consultant at Al Wakrah Hospital before joining Sidra Medicine in 2017. After completing an MD training program in Sudan, she joined the UK Pediatric training where she was awarded a CCT and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Pediatrics. She was also conferred a Master Degree in Pediatrics and Child Health from University Of Leeds, UK. She joined the Weill Cornell Medical College- Qatar, as an assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics. She is strong advocate for Research, Education and Evidence Based Medicine Practice. She was trained by the Cochrane team- Oxford- to be a Cochrane author. She has several publications in peer review journals including Cochrane library. She is the deputy chief of the evidenced based medicine group and the systematic review group at Sidra Medicine. She is a Cochrane author for both Anesthesia Critical and Emergency Care Group; and the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Group and a regular peer reviewer for international medical journals including BMJ and Archives of Disease in Childhood, and BMC pediatrics. She is currently the lead clinician for guideline development at the Pediatric Emergency Department at Sidra Medicine.

Dr. Rafah Sayyed is a Pediatric Senior Consultant in Pediatric Emergency Center Al Sadd at Hamad General Hospital in Doha, Qatar. She joined Hamad Medical Corporation in 2005 after completing the Jordanian Board of Pediatrics in 2004. Prior to joining HMC, she worked at the University of Jordan and Al Basheer Hospital in Amman, Jordan. She is interested in Research and Critical Care Management, has published in this area and is currently involved in ongoing research projects at the PEC. Dr. Rafah has been a speaker in QPEM since year 1, sharing her knowledge and expertise as a medical professional. She is also on faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College and Qatar University, giving education and bedside training to medical students. She is also an Advanced Life Support instructor of the Advanced Life Support Group (UK), an instructor in the HMC Pediatric Safe Procedural Sedation Course and the Emergency Medicine Pediatric Airway course.

Lisa is a pediatrician by ‘upbringing’, a consultant pediatrician at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children from 1995 - 2020. During her career in this tertiary South-West dedicated children’s hospital, (part of University Hospitals Bristol), she oversaw the establishment of a fully functional Pediatric Emergency department, worked as a general pediatrician and helped draft the UK national training curriculum for emergency physicians (RCEM) and pediatric trainees (RCPCH), for doctors sub-specializing in pediatric emergency medicine. Locally this was implemented by the development of posts to employ local deanery emergency medicine and pediatric registrars in pediatric emergency medicine. She also worked closely with local GPs both clinically to establish patient pathways and in their post graduate education in pediatrics, as well as working in a unique GP with special interest pediatrics OP setting. The department became the Major Trauma Centre for the region in 2014. Lisa worked as Named Doctor for child protection for UHBristol for 9 years until 2018 and has extensive experience of local and regional safeguarding procedures and case management. She was part of the team for setting up the nationally mandated multiagency investigation into Childhood Unexpected Death. Since starting at Sidra (from 2018), Lisa has brought this experience to Qatar and is part of the team at Sidra emergency medicine, working towards the goal of sustaining high standards of care across all emergency presentations. Sidra Emergency has developed as the emergency front door for the hospital and has established itself as the pediatric major trauma centre for Qatar. Attendances in 2022 reached 97,500. Lisa is responsible for aspects of quality and monitoring of performance.

Dr. Leena Amine is currently the manager of the Qatar Poison Center in Doha Qatar. She is also a specialist in poison information and a clinical pharmacist in emergency medicine. She holds dual board certification as a pharmacotherapy specialist and a critical care pharmacist. Prior to joining Sidra Medicine, she was an emergency medicine clinical pharmacist at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison Wisconsin. She completed her residency training at the University of Illinois at Chicago and obtained her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Mercer University in Atlanta Georgia, where she also completed poison center and toxicology training at the Georgia Poison Center.

William Casey is a graduate of University College Cork (MB.B.Ch.B.A. O), who has his FFFRCSI, as well as being American Board of Anesthesiology certified. His training and work has been extensive, and includes Ireland, Canada, the US, Bahrain, and is now a senior attending anesthesiologist at Sidra Medicine in Doha Qatar. He has broad interests and experience including work in pediatric trauma, and his research interests include topics in pediatric anesthesia, sepsis and the pediatric difficult airway. He has had many leadership and administrative roles, including various committees and projects, and was instrumental in the development and training program for the Pediatric Major Trauma Program at Sidra Medicine. Dr Tajeldin is a consultant in Emergency Medicine. He obtained his MBBS from University of Gezira, Sudan. He completed his Fellowship in Emergency Medicine (FRCEM) at the Royal College of Emergency Medicine-UK and was awarded a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in the UK. He worked in different hospitals in England and Wales. Dr Tajeldin is an instructor for the advanced resuscitation courses including ALS, APLS and ATLS. Before joining Sidra in November 2018, he worked as a consultant in Emergency Medicine in Morriston Hospital, Swansea. Dr Tajeldin’s special interest is in quality improvement in health care, health promotion and patient education. He led successful quality improvement projects in the UK and Sidra ED. He is currently the patient education lead in the Sidra Emergency Department. Using technology and principles of quality improvement, he is leading the transformation of education material delivery to patients and families attending the Emergecny Department Outside work he enjoys photography and film editing.

Dr. Sheik Abdul Razak is an Attending Physician currently working in the ED at Sidra Medicine where he also holds the title of Quality Lead for the Department. He works in conjunction with the Sidra Medicine Quality and Safety Committee, working to maintain a very high standard of both quality and patient safety in the busy ED. He previously worked as Consultant Pediatrician in York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since February from 2015 to 2018. After completion of Post graduate Diploma in Child Health in Madras Medical College, he completed his Pediatric training in the UK. Guillaume Alinier, PhD, is Director of Research at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Ambulance Service and Visiting Professor at the University of Hertfordshire (UK), where he developed and was directing a large multiprofessional clinical simulation centre as a hub for collaboration and learning across disciplines and professions. Dr. Fathi Toaimah is a Consultant in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Asssociate Professor in Pediatrics at Qatar University and Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCM-Q). His clinical work focuses on pediatric emergency care which ranges from common clinical problems to life-threatening conditions. He has been interested in clinical research with a focus on medical emergencies, bronchiolitis, gastroenteritis, and he is currently an active member of the Academic Committee at Pediatric Emergency Center Alsadd and has published several papers in peer reviewed medical journals. Dr. Fatihi is an experienced teacher and currently a speaker for the research methodology training program which targets healthcare professionals at HMC. His internship and residency training program have been completed at Zagazig University Children’s Hospital, Egypt and he then earned his doctorate in pediatrics (PhD) in 2000. He joined the staff of HMC in 2003 and became a faculty member of WCM-Q in 2012.
