REGIONAL ANESTHESIA WORKSHOP
The Pediatric Emergency Department at Sidra Medicine is hosting Regional Anesthesia Workshop. This workshop will cover the theory and practice parts of all possible regional nerve blocks which can be done in the emergency room. This will be ultrasound guided whenever indicated.
Who should attend this workshop? This course is strictly for doctors, ENP nurses, and anesthesiologists who may perform nerve block in the ED or theater.
What is involved and what makes it special? It involves the theory of blocks with multiple videos followed by hands on using ultrasound to perform scans on fantoms.
The course follow the latest updates and evidence-based guidance for the regional anesthesia

Born in Baghdad 1977 and obtained medical degree from Baghdad College of Medicine in 2001. Residency was in Bagdad, North London, Kent, Nottingham, and Bristol. Completed membership and fellowship training in Emergency Medicine with subspecialty in Pediatric emergency medicine in London 2018. Obtained diploma from Edinburgh university for PEM and Diploma from Cardiff open university in medical toxicology 2021. Finishing now master degree in medical toxicology. In addition to Emergency medicine practice, ED clinical lead of Disaster Medicine in Sidra. Enjoy teaching and do that through PALS and ALS instruction, teaching procedural sedation, regional blocks and POCUS.

Dr. Barbara Blackie MD, FRCPC, MEd is the Education Lead and a Senior Attending Physician in Emergency Medicine, providing faculty development, education/training for staff and leads the Simulation Program for the department. She is a Master Trainer for the TeamSTEPPS program at Sidra, teaches Pediatric Procedural Sedation, POCUS, PALS, and ATLS. Other activities include co-chair for the Scientific Committee for QPEM, the annual Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference, and she is Vice Chair for the Procedural Sedation Committee at Sidra. She is also an external CME/CPD Surveyor for Department of Health Professionals (DHP) at the Ministry of Public Health and sits on the CME/CPD Advisory Committee at Weill Cornell Medical College, where she also has a faculty appointment. Prior to the move to Doha, she worked in Canada at a tertiary care, level one trauma center for pediatrics. In addition, she held the role of Associate Chief (Education) for the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and was the Program Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine residency/fellowship program.

Anthony is a Nurse practitioner in pediatric emergency department at Sidra medicine. He is originally from Ireland. He qualified as Nurse in 2001 and has been working in emergency department since then. Anthony obtained his MSc in University College Dublin followed by a Grad Cert in advanced practice. In 2014 he Registered as a Nurse Practitioner and worked in Tallaght university Hospital Dublin. He joined the Pediatric Emergency team at Sidra Medicine in June 2019

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The 8th Qatar - Pediatric Emergency Medicine (QPEM) International Conference 2024 is open to all healthcare professionals with an interest in or practice involving providing emergency and urgent care to children. The conference is CME accredited for nurses, doctors, allied health, paramedics, nurse practitioners and pharmacists, and all trainees welcome.
