Call for Abstract


The QPEM 2026 Scientific Committee is pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the upcoming Qatar Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference, to be held online from 16th to 18th January 2026. We warmly invite researchers, clinicians, educators, and quality improvement leaders in pediatric emergency medicine and related fields to share their latest, original, and high-impact work with our international audience.

Scope and Themes
We seek high-quality abstract submissions related to original research, innovative quality improvement projects, forward-thinking service development initiatives, and transformative educational interventions pertinent to pediatric emergency medicine. Well-documented, clinically relevant case reports will also be considered. Submissions must reflect work that demonstrates methodological rigor and contributes novel insights to the field.

Submission Requirements

  • Registration:At least one author must register for QPEM 2026 and be available to present, if selected.
  • Template:All abstracts must be prepared using the official QPEM 2026 Abstract Template and written in clear, professional English suitable for publication.
  • Platform: Platform: Abstracts must be submitted exclusively via the QPEM 2026 online submission system. First create a POEM author profile by registering HERE
  • Publication:Abstracts and accompanying posters will be posted on the conference abstract Page and a selection of top-rated abstracts will be published in the Panaroma of Emergency Medicine (POEM) journal.  (https://panoramaoem.com/index.php/poem)
  • Awards: Top 3 exceptional poster presentations will receive recognition during the conference and provided the opportunity to present orally their work during a special communication session.
  • Word Limit:Abstracts are limited to 300 words.
  • Abstract Structure: With the exception of case reports, abstracts must be structured as follows:
    • Background and aims
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusion
    • References (up to 3, Vancouver style; not counted toward word limit)
    • Up to 2 tables/figures (Cited in the text)
    • Statement of ethical approval or exemption, including committee name and reference number
    • Optional: Disclosure or acknowledgements section
    • List of 5 keywords
    • Statement regarding permission or refusal for online publication if selected
    • Affirmation of exclusivity: For publication consideration, affirm that the abstract is original, has not been previously published, and will not be submitted elsewhere before 28 February 2026.
    • Indicate preferred presentation format: Oral (live virtual session) or poster (online display)
  • Case Report Structure:
    • Background
    • Case Presentation
    • Discussion
    • Conclusion
    • References (up to 3, Vancouver style; not counted toward word limit)
    • Up to 2 tables/figures (Cited in the text)
    • Publication Approval Statement (including patient consent and institutional approval reference number for HMC patient related submissions),

Evaluation Criteria
All submissions will be independently reviewed by the QPEM 2026 Abstract Committee based on:

  • The originality, significance, and potential impact of the work
  • Scientific and methodological rigor
  • Clarity and completeness of abstract sections, as per the provided template
  • Relevance and applicability to the conference audience
  • Responsiveness to reviewer feedback for submissions considered for publication

Authorship and Publication Ethics
By submitting an abstract, authors confirm that:

  • The work is original, accurate, and personally authored (not AI generated).
  • All contributors are appropriately acknowledged, and the author list will not be modified after submission.
  • Any previously published abstracts are accurately declared; such submissions can be considered for conference presentation, but are not eligible for publication.
  • Submitted abstracts will undergo plagiarism screening.
  • Consent is given for abstract publication on the event website, if accepted.

Important Dates

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: 25 September 2025 (midnight, Qatar time)
  • Notification of Acceptance: 5 October 2025
  • Presenter Registration Deadline: 10 November 2025

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The 10th Qatar - Pediatric Emergency Medicine (QPEM) International Virtual Conference 2026 is open to all healthcare professionals with an interest in or practice involving providing emergency and urgent care to children.  The conference is CME accredited for nurses, doctors, allied health, paramedics, nurse practitioners and pharmacists, and all trainees welcome.
